Basement Gym Floor

Let’s face it, getting to the gym with three kids and the cost can be a bit difficult. Instead of having my basement as a catch all we decided to turn it into a home gym. It’s all finished except for the flooring. First thing was to clear it all out and paint the walls and get started on the floor.

We decided to epoxy the cement floor. Before I could paint on the epoxy I had to clean the floors and let them dry. Epoxy paint has very strong fumes so you want to make sure you wear a mask at all times. I worked from one corner of the basement to the next. You want to work in small sections and sprinkle the colored paint chips as you go. Now that I think of it, I should have added a little glitter to the mix. After the floor was covered, I started fans to help it dry faster and get out some fumes.

The great thing about epoxy flooring is that its super tough and durable. This is great for a gym floor or garage floors as well. After the floor was completely dry we added corner round to the base boards. Now that our gym flooring is complete we need to add work out equipment and some decor of course.
